Compliance

Master Magnetics prioritizes product safety and stands behind the quality and compliance of our magnetic materials and devices. It is important to us to conduct updated testing on all of our products and provide compliance information to our distributors and customers. This page outlines the regulations with which we comply and provides resources to request compliance documents and certificates of conformance specific to an item or purchase order. If you have any questions or concerns regarding compliance and our magnets, please contact us.

Safety Data Sheets (SDS) – formerly called “material safety data sheets”, updated safety data sheets are part of the globally harmonized system (GHS) and must contain 16 parts.

Our magnetic devices and products with a specific purpose are defined by OSHA as “articles”. These products do not require SDSs as they are not raw materials. Article statements are available upon request. Click here to submit a request.

Certificate of Conformance – Comprehensive, item-specific certificates available upon request. All of our magnetic materials and devices meet the requirements of Magnetic Materials Producers Association. Click here to submit a request.

Conflict Minerals – Part of the Dodd-Frank Act, this due diligence and traceability regulation concerns the use of tin, tungsten, tantalum, or gold manufactured in smelters from The Democratic Republic of the Congo and adjoining countries.

Our stock magnets do not contain tin, tungsten, tantalum, or gold. Please find our Conflict Minerals Template Report (CMRT) here.

RoHS: Restriction of Hazardous Substances – This EU regulation was recently updated to RoHS 3
(EU Directive 2015/863) and applies to electrical/electronic products and components. The most recent update added four phthalates for a total of ten substances.

  • All of our raw magnet materials and electronic products are compliant per RoHS 3 without exceptions (neodymium, alnico, ceramic, samarium cobalt).
  • Devices, flexible magnets, and all other non-raw magnet products are outside the scope of RoHS 3 as they are not sold to be used in electrical/electronic applications.

RoHS certificates of conformance are available upon request.

REACH: Restriction, Evaluation, Authorization of Chemicals – It is the responsibility of EU manufacturers and importers to obtain chemical composition information of all products that are manufactured within or imported to the EU. This information is fed into a database that is reviewed annually by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) in order to determine which chemicals should be added to a list of banned substances, called substances of very high concern (SVHC).

All Master Magnetics, Inc. products are compliant with REACH and do not contain any of the 209 SVHCs.

REACH certificates of conformance are available upon request.

California Prop 65 – Prop 65 is an ever-expanding California regulation that is a right-to-know law regarding products with potential exposure levels of substances that cause cancer and/or reproductive harm. Prop 65 requires products to be marked with warning labels that are clear and reasonable to the consumer prior to purchase. Our products are tested on an annual basis for Prop 65-listed substances, which helps us determine in a timely manner whether any of our products require Prop 65 warnings.

Master Magnetics, Inc. currently has a handful of products that are labeled with a Prop 65 warning. We have chosen to use the safe harbor warnings provided by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) on all of our affected products, packaging (when applicable), and their corresponding website and catalog pages.

We work directly with our vendors to obtain necessary test reports conducted by CPSC-approved third-party laboratories and communicate this information with our authorized distributors to ensure proper labeling at all points of sale prior to purchase.

Prop 65 certificates of conformance are available upon request
